Vote Lib Dem turn blue?

Since establishing the Coalition Government in May 2010, some political commentators have snubbed leader of the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg MP to be an 'undercover tory boy'. Perhaps this is true, or, is Clegg merely a careerist who has already electorally peaked? If this is the case; that Clegg is a 'true blue' (not an Everton fan) at heart, or a true careerist politician, as many would appear to be nowadays, then, what are the chances of him defecting to the Conservative party at the next General election?
This blog is probably premature, and it is perhaps too early to predict such an upheaval in British politics. Yet with the Liberal Democrat leader being as liberal as George Bush at times, it seems appropriate. First off, by abandoning his party's electoral pledge on issues such as tuition fees, Clegg has ram shackled himself politically, and in doing so will lose the student vote at the next election, further squandering proportions as much as half of his party's electoral support (figures from yougov). In addition, as leader, it is clear that his agenda, and his party's agenda are totally different. I think right now the Liberal Democrats are keeping quiet to avoid speculation of party or Coalition haste. It would not be surprising to see Clegg ousted from the party either, as 'big beast' liberals such as Menzies Campbell have publicly condemned his actions. Thus arrives the idea that he could defect to the Conservative party.
Finally Clegg's political 'gaffe' the other day whereby after a television debate he mistakenly told the PM: "If we keep doing this we won't find anything to bloody disagree on in the bloody TV debate" , implicitly suggests that Clegg is no longer willing to stand up for his party. This leak may have been an early revealing of his futures plans? Clearly, Ashdown and Clarke were 'staunch' Liberal Democrat leaders, but Clegg instead is fazed by the power which 'big government' brings. Nick is that of an understudy to Cameron, a politician confused about his political sexuality, and soon we may see him 'come out' Conservative, to the much disgust of the Liberal Democrat population!
